Interested in learning how to play the carillon?
Each semester, we allow undergraduate students the opportunity to learn to play the carillon with the intention of becoming a student carillonnuer. Student Carillonneurs are responsible for playing daily 5pm recitals Monday through Friday while classes are in session. Typically, each student carillonneur plays one or two recitals per week. They are also invited to play for special services such as convocations, commencement, Love Feast, memorial services, etc. Potential student carillonnuers must have a musical background and previous training on another instrument, preferably piano and/or organ. The ability to read music fluently is required and improvisational skills as well as an understanding of music theory is preferred. If you are interested in learning more about this opportunity, contact us at carillon@wfu.edu and provide basic information regarding your musical background.
Be Vocal!
Do you have a story about the carillon that you would like to share as an alumnus or member of the Wake Forest Community? We would love to hear from you! Feel free to contact us and share your stories, memories or ideas.
