Philospohy professor Avram Hiller has led this committee, which has represented the faculty and worked with the administration to promote sustainable practices on the Wake Forest campus. The listserv for this committee is Faculty Sustainability.
S.E.A.C.
Student Environmental Action Coalition has worked for years on environmental and sustainable issues on campus. Their
Blog is a great resource to keep track of their activities.Student Government
Former Speaker of the House Ross Williford intiated a student government committee on sustainability. Ross' committee has determined that Wake Forest needs to hire a sustainability cooradinator. Ross' committee has also conducted public forums on these issues, serving as student representatives on this issue to faculty and administration.
ARAMARK Corporation Higher Education
The ARAMARK corporation has been very helpful in the Sustainability Week project. There sustainability platform is called "Green Thread." Dining services participates in Campus Kitchen, recycles their cooking oils, and went trayless in 2007, cutting down on waste and fostering better eating habits. They will also be using only biodegradable to-go materials in the Fresh Food Company beginning April 21. Their local website can be found at Wake Forest Aramark.
